In addition to LOVE this dog has the following requirements:
Entered Foster Care Fence Kid Friendly Another Dog Cat Friendly
7/11/2014 Required Age 10+ Optional Yes
This is the most recent information available; however, it may change as we learn more about the dog.

We welcomed him to our home on Friday, July 11th. After introducing him to our resident dog, he had a very quiet night and melded very quickly into our daily routines. We heard that he may have had some resource guarding in the past, but we have not experienced that with him.

  • He has mouthed one of my hands while being peted vigorously. When told "No," he stops. It was more like licking, but we don’t want him learning bad habits.
  • We were told he had an issue with food that was dropped on the floor. Foster mom has dropped a container of cherry tomatoes on the floor and he didn’t go for the food when told.
  • Had one minor disagreement because our resident dog tried to take an ice cube from him. No harm to either. They both learned each other’s boundaries.

Recent activities and training:

  • Since then, he has gone for walks and is learning "heel" and "leave it."
  • Met new people, rode in the pontoon, and went swimming with our resident dog.
  • We will work on him dropping a toy when asked.
  • He has met and been deemed  OK by our resident cats and he pays them no attention other than to nudge them hello.

Personality we are noticing:

  • This dog is a true lover and loves to cuddle to his humans. When he is not doing the Golden paw or nose-to-hand nudge for pets, he lies quietly on the floor near foster mom or me. He takes treats more gently than our resident dog and follows commands like "sit" and "no" and goes to his crate without any trouble.
  • He has free run of the house when we are home, sleeps in our room at night with resident dog, and has been in his crate while we are away, and seems very comfortable in it.

Upcoming events for him.

  • He will be neutered the week of 7/21/14.

This is a very sweet young man. When available, his forever family could have another dog and cats would be OK. Because he still likes to jump on people (we are working on this), only children over 10 would be a good idea. With continued training, this guy can only get more awesome.
