Glory had her dental visit on Tuesday, March 12th. Luckily for her, the questionable tooth only needed to be sealed and not extracted! The vet took X-rays of all of her teeth, and they are looking good.
While she was sedated, they did a close examination of her left eye. It was suspected she may have entropion, but everything checked out perfect. No more eye issues to worry about.
Now that the weather has warmed up, we have been able to have Glory out for daily walks. We usually walk about 1.75 to 2 miles, and she will pull you for the entire duration. She is a strong little girl that knows no direction other than full speed straight ahead. This is going to take a lot of work, time, and patience. We have no doubt that if you happen to be unsteady on your feet, she may just take you for a dive!
Glory is a very calm dog throughout most of the day. Most evenings, she will get a crazy spurt of energy where she runs zoomies around the house and will try to use your hands and feet as a chew toy. We continue to redirect her with a toy or bone when she gets mouthy. These little episodes last about 5 to 10 minutes.
She did have an exciting trip two weeks ago. Glory went to dog daycare! She thoroughly enjoyed it and was an excellent guest. She received an A+ and is welcome to come back whenever she would like.
This little girl will need an active family that will dedicate time every day to work on her leash manners, spend time with her outdoors in the yard, and take her on adventures. Taking her to dog daycare once in a while would also be a great benefit as she loves to be around other dogs.
If you think Glory just might be that new addition to your family, please submit an inquiry. She is looking forward to hearing all about you!

Glory arrived at our home in the early morning hours of February 24th. She had a long flight from China and a drive from Chicago to Minnetonka. Her foster family then picked her up in Minnetonka, and she was ready to go back in the car and on to brighter days!
Her adjustment has been nothing short of fabulous. She was very curious and counter-surfed the first couple of days here. The counter-surfing has stopped, but like most dogs, she likes to be in the kitchen with her humans.
There were a few potty accidents in the house during the first two days, but she caught on quickly that the toilet is outside. She was crated for the first two nights here, but has been allowed free roam 24/7 after she proved she could do her business outside and leave inappropriate items alone.
Glory is allowed access to the bedrooms, but prefers to sleep on her dog bed in the kitchen/dining area. She sleeps peacefully all night and waits at the bottom of the stairs for Foster Dad to come down in the morning when she hears him wake up.
This little peanut went to the vet last week and was a perfect patient. She does need to gain 10 lbs as she is very thin. Her fecal was clear of worms and parasites.
There were no problems with her ears, but she does have one tooth we will be addressing on March 12th. It appears there is a chip out of the enamel, but it will be X-rayed at her visit. If it is indeed just a chip, they will seal it; if it is more severe, they will extract that tooth.
Her right eye does have a bit of drainage. At this point, we are unsure if it is a birth defect or due to the fact that she is underweight. It does not bother her, and the discharge is not severe. If it does not improve over the next few months after putting on some pounds, she may need a little eye lift. This is definitely something to consider for her possible medical needs in the future.
Now, on to more of the good stuff! Glory resides with a very mellow 3.5-year-old male Golden. They live peacefully together. Glory has tried to instigate play inside, but this guy does not ever play in the house.
The snow outside in the yard is so high that they have only little paths to travel, so it is not much of a playground, not to mention it has been so cold that they are not outside for very long. If you do have another dog in the home, we are sure she would love a wrestling opponent!
We have not seen any resource guarding. She entertains herself with her toys and loves to chew on bones. She will have a couple of short spurts of excitement, in most part when everyone has returned home for the day.
She will get a little mouthy at times when she is excited. We are working on that, and it is getting better. Due to this behavior, we feel that small children would not be a good fit for her. If you have children that are dog-savvy, have experienced puppy mouthing, and have knowledge on how to redirect this behavior, it would most likely be manageable. We do not know how old Glory is, but we do know that she is young and will probably outgrow this behavior with training and age.
Most of the day, Glory is very calm. She thoroughly enjoys her dog bed or laying by the door on the rug. She loves car rides, but was not a fan of the car wash. She was curious about the water spraying, but when those big rags came down, she went on the floor in the backseat. Foster Mom was shocked by that, as she is the one and only dog that has been here that is not afraid of the vacuum cleaner!
And last but not least, Glory needs work on the leash. She has only been on two very short walks as it has just been too darn cold. It will take time and patience to teach her leash manners, but one positive is she is more of a pocket Golden and won't pull like a bull! She currently has a fenced-in yard, but if you could take her out on a leash or long tether, that would most likely work out just fine for her!
Thank you for taking the time to read about Glory. She has had quite the journey. She is also asking for a special someone to sponsor her dental needs.
Glory is ready to view applicants that may just be her new forever family. If you meet all of her needs, maybe that could be you?
