Meet Henry! Henry is a 7 years young, neutered male Golden/Lab mix who is sweet, charming, adorable hunk of love! He is a tall and thin (jealous!) and is estimated to weigh about 60 lbs. Henry found his way into RAGOM because one of the children in his loving home developed an allergy towards him. It is clear that he was well loved and cared for and we promise that will continue for him as we look for the perfect forever home for this sweet guy. He has just been in our home for the day so we are still getting to know him, but the first thing I can say is that there is a family out there about to hit the jackpot with this boy! He's wonderful!

Henry is kid, dog, and cat friendly. In fact, I think he loves everything and everyone and he isn't afraid to show it! He's a snuggle bug who thinks he's a lap dog! He is housetrained and crate trained and knows basic commands. However, I think he would benefit from some basic obedience training... He is energetic and pulls like a freight train on a flat collar and leash. We will get him going on a gentle leader or easy walker harness tomorrow and see how he does... I'm sure that will help! He hasn't had much exercise or attention in the last month or two due to the allergies of the child in his surrendering home, so he is a bit high energy right now! Time will tell if that is his personality or if he just making up for lost time :) He did settle down already here so I am suspecting with a normal amount of good exercise per day he will be a more mellow guy. We will make a trip to the vet this week to get him microchipped and given a once over (he is already up to date on vaccines) but I suspect he will check out as healthy as he seems.I look forward to getting to know Mr. Henry better as the week goes on, so stay tuned! I'll leave you with a quote from our 4 year old son (who has 3 resident dogs in his home). "I like Henry the best. He's so pretty, and he gives good kisses" :)

Henry -

Henry joined our family a year ago and it feels like we've had him forever. Our 6th RAGOM dog is very sweet with our kids, and our one year old is absolutely in love with him. He has become a brother to Leroy (FKA Madison). The two boys wrestle every night and take naps together every day.

Henry is a big skinny lap dog who wants nothing more than to be by our sides whenever possible.  He is a bit of a thief - okay, that's an understatement!  He will steal any food at any time.  One year later, he still surprises us with his snatching ability and tastes (avocado), but we are slowly being trained. Despite his bad manners, he’s cuddled his way into our hearts in a way we didn’t think was possible after losing our senior golden shortly before adopting Henry.

Now 8 years young, Henry enjoys his time at the dog park and has a habit of inspecting every human begging for treats.  He will run with any dog there and outrun every dog there!

Henry loves his tummy rubs and I love mushing his jowly face and pulling his cheeks back into a big smile.  He is a total lover and a perfect couch snuggler.  He is looking forward to more time on back yard patrol as the weather improves. We are so thankful for RAGOM and the prize we got with Henry.

Henry joined our family a couple weeks ago after my Sally died of old age. We were looking for a dog that would enjoy our young kids and Henry did not disappoint. He puts up with our 2 year old's shenanigans and absolutely adores our 5 month old - who wouldn't!

Our other RAGOM boy, Leroy (FKA Madison 08-486) really likes his new buddy. They are the kings of the dog park and spend their at home time wrestling and napping together.

Henry is a wonderful fit for our family and we just love him! Thanks, RAGOM.

Handsome Henry has been here now for a few days, it has been a pleasure getting to know and having fun with him! Henry is a "good time" guy and is just HAPPY as can be!

He has the exuberance of a dog at least half his age :) he is very puppy-like. He lacks some house manners and obedience. He will pick up the kids toys and carry them around, get into the garbage, beg for food, put his paws on the counter.... things like that. He isn't destructive and easily redirects, but potential adopters need to know he will be a work in progress. He just needs a little polish :) Underneath there is a dog who is FANTASTIC! He wants badly to please and just needs someone committed to making him into the dog he is meant to be.Aside from his lack of "polish", he has many, many great qualities! He is 100% reliably house trained. He can have free roam if counters are clear and toys are picked up (our house is so clean now!! Thanks, Henry!). He is a champion snuggler! He looooooves to hang out on the couch with us and snuggle in for some T.V. time. It is very adorable. He is pretty Velcro and is always in the same room as us. He makes a person feel very loved. He will make the most amazing best friend for someone. He is the ultimate companion and puts a smile on any face. He loves to walk and jog and has great athletic energy. He was catching snowballs the neighbor kids were throwing yesterday for hours! He takes treats very gently and sleeps quietly in his crate at night. He gets along great with other dogs and all people big and small! I cannot stress enough the awesome personality this guy has. He's a great dog!If you are interested in meeting him, let you your placement advisor know! Thanks for Reading :)
