Let me introduce myself. My name is Izzy and I am a little squirt with cute curly hair on my back end. My papers say that I weigh almost 57 pounds, but foster mom does not believe that. She thinks that I weigh less than that. In another week or so she will take me to the good doctor to check on the infection in my ears and then we will find out what my real weight is. As soon as all of the infection is gone from my ears then I can be fixed, whatever that is. I didn't know that I was broken. Foster mom explained it to me that I will never again have to be a baby factory.

I am just the sweetest, but I am scared of a lot of things. I do not like loud noises. I really love to be petted and doted on, but if you come to me to do that I will run from you. I follow foster mom everywhere and when she sits down I am really close to her. If she is in the kitchen I am always right there by her. Usually if I am laying in the kitchen and she bends down to pet me I will let her do that, but if I am standing and she tries to pet me I will run. I want the pets really bad but still just not sure of that hand coming to me. When I first came I would not eat from a bowl and my food had to be put on the floor. Then I graduated to to food being able to be put on a paper plate, and now I will eat out of a bowl, so I am making progress. As foster mom calls it.....baby steps.

Foster mom and foster dad had company for a couple of days and I let the kindergartner sit with me, play with me, and love on me several times for a long time each time.

When I first came I was really frightened to go out the door to go outside and potty. I came in just fine, but going out scared me. Now I go out with the other puppers just fine. I like being outside and I just run and run and run. There use to be another foster here that was also scared like I am and I really liked running with her. But she was moved to a new foster home so she could continue on her journey to improve her progress. Now I run around with the resident dogs.

Foster mom keeps telling me that everything will be just fine and I will learn to know and love what the real Golden life is supposed to be. I can hardly wait.

From time to time, we as foster parents decide that moving our foster pup to another foster home may afford her or him greater exposure to new experiences, which in turn may offer him or her more opportunities for meeting potential adoptive families. So Izzy moved from a quiet home out in the country to a busier, more bustling environment in the city.

And it has worked. Mission accomplished! Izzy has successfully completed an impressive number of firsts in a very short period of time. For all of our pups who come from commercial breeders, successes are usually measured in small steps of progress. But Izzy's achievements have been remarkable. Some of her firsts include leash walking the city sidewalks with her foster sister, appearing in public as a representative of RAGOM, getting professionally groomed, going out for ice cream and swimming at the local dog park. All of this in just a matter of weeks is really very impressive.

So impressive, in fact, that this will be the final foster stop on Izzy's journey to finding her furever family. She has found it right here. I am adopting her myself. Izzy and resident foster pup Honey have become truly inseparable, and each brings out the best in the other. Izzy fits in so well here, it is as if she has always been a part of our family. We are thrilled to have her stay with us permanently.

Izzy would like to thank her previous foster for wanting the broadest of opportunities be made available to her, and she also wants to thank RAGOM for its dedication to finding just the right match for each of its pups, regardless of timeframe. Thank you Kay, and thank you RAGOM.

Love from the Valgemae Goldens Love from the Valgemae Goldens

Merry Christmas from Santa to the Golden Seniors! Merry Christmas from Santa to the Golden Seniors!

Saturday, December 20, 2014

I would like to start with a huge huge thank you to two different sets of humans. First to my sponsors Ali and Nick. Thank you so very much for your support and generosity. Second to the Valgemae Goldens for thier very generous donation. With the support of very nice people like you it helps us puppers so much and is so very appreciated. Thank you, thank you, thank you so much.

I have been doing really well. I am even coming up to foster mom and foster dad while inside to get some loving. I have been doing that outside, but inside I was not. I have also been laying in different places other than my usual spot. The other day I was laying by the pantry and when foster mom went into the pantry I did not get up and run, I just stayed where I was. That is another baby step for me. Foster mom keeps telling me that it is just one baby step at a time. Foster mom and foster dad are proud of my progress lately.

It's not that foster mom wants it to snow, but she is courious to know how I will act in the white stuff. When that happens I will let you know how I did. I have been running with my resident sisters when I am outside instead of just hanging out with myself. If you have a pupper that would like to run with me outside and be my companion, please contact your placement advisor and let them know. Foster mom would love to talk to you about me. Thanks for stopping by.

Taking the fresh air.

Lounging with one of my resident sisters like I do a lot. I am the one in the back.

I also like to lounge around with my feline cousins.

First of all I want to to say thank you, thank you very much to Lynn and Lou L. for their donation in memory of their Bridge girl Asta. It really means a lot to us puppers that there are people like you who want to help. I know that Asta is looking down on you and smiling that you are helping us.  :)  :) Second, I know that it has been WAY too long since I got my paws on this here plastic box to let you know how I am doing in my progress. I am doing very well. I now get right in the pack when foster mom is doling out the good yummy treats. I use to stay way way back, but not any more!!!! I just get right in there too. I do take the treat and go away and eat it, but I am right back there to see if there is more. I have really learned to settle down when I am outside and instead of constantly moving and pacing I can now lay down or sit down, take in the scenery, and smell the fresh air. I will even stay there and not get up and run away when someone comes up to me and I will let them pet and love on me. If I come up and stand behind someone now I usually stay and will let them pet me. Sometimes I will run away, but I am staying now more than I am running away. However, in the house I follow foster mom EVERYWHERE and if she goes into a room and closes the door I wait outside the door for her to come back out, but as soon as she does I run. Go figure. I am not quite sure why I run from people inside and do not want them to pet me. If I am sitting on my favorite spot on the dog bed by the sliding glass doors I do not get up and run when someone wants to come and give me pets and lovin'.

A couple of times foster mom has seen me try and play with one of the resident sisters. She really tries to get me to play with her, but I am just not sure what to do. I have been going for walks down the long driveway to help get the paper or to get the mail. I have done very well, but since we are in the country there is not a lot of extra noise so I have not been that scared. I walk well on the leash.

Foster mom keeps telling me that she would love to get inside my head to figure out what is going on with me, but she would never fit so I really don't know what she is thinking. Geesh!!!!!! I am doing really well and have come a long way since I first arrived here. I would love to show you how well I am doing and be your furver pupper. If you would like to be my furever home contact your placement advisor and we can get things rolling. Also please attend Goldzilla on Sept. 14th and join in all of the fun that will be going on. It really is a whole lot of fun and the funds raised at Goldzilla help dogs like me receive the care we need until we find our furever families.

The good Dr. has been keeping an eye on my ears. I had a recheck for the second time and I go back in 10 days for another check on them. If things look good at that time then foster mom can make an appointment to get me spayed. She says that my puppy making days are over and I am sure glad for that. I weighed 50.7 lbs. I am just a little thing. I am doing pretty good. I now come up for treats but turn and go right after I take the treat. I follow foster mom EVERYWHERE and when she is in the kitchen I am laying right behind her as you can see in the picture. But if she goes to pet me I run. If she comes to me when I am laying on the dog bed by the sliding glass window I kind of cower but really like it when she pets me and loves on me. I just don't know why I won't let her pet and love on me at other times. Foster mom says that she is sure that in time I will let her do that. Will let you know when I can be spayed and then I will be looking for that perfect furever home for me.
