Jill has been adopted and went to her new home on Friday (March 7th). She is settling in and getting to know her new family.
Jill has had a rough few weeks. She is doing so much better now! Her heart is beating normally. She has developed a slight heart murmur, but we are not sure if this is permanent damage, or if she will continue to heal and the murmur will go away. Time will tell and no treatment is needed for this, so we decided to let her continue with her adoption and let her start her new life!
Her new family is great! They were very excited to get Jill! She is such a nice dog and over time will become a confident girl! She has many dog beds to pick from for her safe spot. Her new mom tells me she moves from bed to bed and has not chosen a favorite yet. She is eating regularly, and going outside and coming back in with no troubles! Those are the important things she needs to do at first; the rest will come in time!
Dogs that come from a breading situation like Jill do not get much socialization and they can be very fearful of many things. Jill is doing well and in time will only continue to grow and become more social. She has a great fur sister and a wonderful family to help her with that!
Jill and I have been through a lot together! Some good and some bad. Jill came to my home at the end of November and a few short days later, gave birth to 11 beautiful puppies! Some were very small and dehydrated and just not doing very well. I helped Jill by tube feeding them every four hours around the clock for the first 3 weeks. After that, I only helped three to four times a day. By week 4, they were starting to eat solid food and Jill was able to keep up with there milk demands! The next four weeks, Jill cared for her babies and was a wonderful mother. All 11 grew strong and are playful, very socialized puppies!
The puppies went to their homes and then we got to see Jill change! She was not in mother mode anymore and she started interacting with the other dogs in the house. She would run and play in the yard and loved to play chase. Not a care in the world! Nothing better then seeing a dog come out of their shell and loving life!
Before dogs can be adopted, they need to be spayed or neutered. Jill went for her spay and things did not go routinely for her. We went through a lot and were not sure she was going to survive her ordeal. She is very strong and she continues to improve every day. This girl has a lot of living to do! She had a bit of a setback, but will move forward and have a good life with a wonderful family!
I am going to miss her so much; she has been such a gift in my life. To go through what we have really bonds us with our dogs. Fosters dogs are ours until we find them the right home and perfect family for them. I have done my job and Jill is with her perfect family! It doesn't make it any easer to say good-bye and to let them go. We do it because we love them and want the very best for them!
I would like to thank everyone that donated to Jill and helped with the cost of her care! RAGOM can't do what they do without the help of such wonderful people!!
THANK YOU!
