Killian 12-088

Profile

Killian is a purebred, neutered, lovely personality, very easy 8 year old Golden gentleman. We’ve had him with us now for a couple of weeks and have been tardy getting him on the website because my camera went missing and my phone was having problems sending pictures to the computer. All is fixed now and you can view a couple of pictures of my handsome foster boy that were taken after his bath.

Killian’s only issue is that he suffers from some allergies and ear infections. Personality and behavior, he is a total gem. He met and gets along with the other five dogs here beautifully. Small dogs, big dogs, old dogs, young dogs, he is social with all. He’s also very good with all people. I don’t have cats so haven’t tested him with cats, but his personality is so wonderful that I think he would take cats in stride too.

Killian is playful and enjoys stuffed toys, tennis balls, nylabones. Any dog appropriate items. He doesn’t chew on any inappropriate items. He does talk while he has a toy and to the inexperienced, it may sound like growling, but he’s talking. I haven’t seen an aggressive bone is this guy’s body. He is reliably housetrained. We haven’t put him in a crate because he is totally trustworthy with free roam of the house. He does pull some on the leash so a gentle leader or some training make a walk more pleasurable. He loves attention, loves to be brushed, wants nothing more than to be your best friend.

Killian has been to the vet, is up-to-date on shots, does need his ears rechecked in a few weeks, but is otherwise ready to be adopted.

Killian has been full of surprises since he joined our family.  When we were interviewed by the Ragom home visitor, she asked the standard question, ”What would you do if you found Killian on your kitchen table?”  My response was, “ I would hope he didn’t eat my beta fish.”   Well, I think that Killian was listening carefully.  Within the first week in our home, my husband came home to find Killian standing on the kitchen table.  He did eat all of the beta food, but did not eat the fish!

Now that I am home for the summer, we will work on the manners.  I am training him to sleep on the floor with his blanket, greet visitors in a calm manner, and to not growl while eating. Killian already knew most standard commands upon his adoption.  I am delighted that he arrived knowing to ‘Come’ when called.

Progress is being made on treating Killian’s allergies and ear infections.  He behaves nicely as I administer the 3 different ear meds twice daily. He will patiently sit and wait for his treat… even if I get distracted.

It is obvious that Killian trusts and loves people.  He is delighted when we come home from work.  He is ecstatic when a visitor stops by.  Killian enjoys his daily walks and trips to the off-leash dog park.  He is always pumped for a car ride.  Over these past hot days, I found Killian sleeping on his back, feet in the air, nose pointed towards the window, and belly being cooled by the overhead fan.  Life is good for Killian.

With Killian’s fun personality and enjoyment of life, it must have been difficult for the original owner to have surrendered Killian.  We want to thank him for this special dog who brings lots of laughs and love into our home.
