Maxx is the nicest best behaved dog I've ever cared for.  He spent the last few weeks following either me or my dogs around.  It's been fun to see his comfort level grow and revealing his personality more over time.  He will be spending his future days accompanying his adopter who works on a wild horse sanctuary in South Dakota!  Happy Trails dear Maxx, l loved the time we had together.

If there is someone out there that is thinking that they'd get a dog if they could find one with no behavior issues, then Maxx is the dog for you. I've fostered Maxx for about a week now. He rarely barks, is 100% housebroken, is totally trustworthy with free reign of the house, has no separation anxiety, doesn't dig, walks nicely on leash, loves car rides and on top of that, has the most pleasant disposition. I find it hard to believe Maxx hasn't been adopted yet; what a wonderful addition he will make to some lucky family.

Hi RAGOM land. My name is Maxx! The two "x's" stand for xtra, xtra good dog! People tell me I look like the Bush's Baked Beans dog, Duke. Maybe, but I am up for adoption and I promise not to share your baked beans recipe, EVER!

Anyway, my original family needs to move into housing that will not allow dogs and decided to have RAGOM help me find an xtra, xtra good home. I am 7 years old, weigh about 70 pounds (which the vet says is ideal for me!) and I have the best house manners anyone could ever ask for in a Golden Retriever. Foster mom says she wants to keep me, but with all of the trips she is planning in the next two years, it would just not be fair to have me need to go to boarding so much.

I LOVE everything that you love! Playing Fetch, going for walks, riding in the car, treats, kids (2 and up), hanging out with you, being petted. Foster mom says I act like I have lived in her house my whole life! Not sure about cats. We can find out if need be!

OK, here is some stuff I can't control and will need your help with if you decide you like me enough to adopt me. I have itchy seasonal allergy skin. I take Benadryl and Medrol for this. I also have a history of seizures, and have had one about every 6-8 months or so. I take phenobarbital twice a day for this. I LOVE to take my meds! Just a tiny bit of lunch meat, or bread with peanut butter and I eat the pills right up! So, you can see that I will need a little bit of extra love because of these medical conditions that I have.

Here are some things that Foster Mom loves about me: I walk GReat on the martingale collar, I have excellent recall, I am very responsive to her and try xtra, xtra hard to figure out exactly what she wants me to do at all times, I NEVER go potty in the house, I ride very well in the car, I rarely bark (only a little to let her know if someone is coming to the house - she likes that!), I do not get on furniture, I do not jump on people, I have free-roam of the house, I destroy nothing and do not get into anything inappropriate, I know basic obedience like stay, sit, wait, heel, and come. Dogs just don't behave any better than me!

If you think Maxx would be a good fit in your home, please submit an "Inquiry for Application" form. If you have already filled out an "Inquiry for Application" form, please send an email to applicationatragom [dot] org () with the dog's name, RAGOM number, the name you submitted the Inquiry for Application form under and a sentence or two why you feel you'd be a good match.

Love, your possible dream dog Maxx.
