Sam 11-181

Profile

Sam joined our foster family from Iowa. We have had Sam for four days. He is a neutered young golden. At 8 months, he has a lot of energy and loves to play. Sam will pull when on a regular lead. We have been using a gentle leader for the past two days and he has done very well. With the gentle leader, Sam is a very good walking companion.

Sam has met several other dogs. He introduces himself with several barks, but ends up wanting to run and play with the pups he meets. Sam does bark often. He will bark at people walking by, strange noises, and door knocks. We are working on curbing this behavior. We live on a lake and Sam loves to go in the water. He just swims around and enjoys himself.

Sam is also not crate trained. We are trying to get him used to several types of crates, just to see if one works better than another. In the mean time, Sam has been sleeping on the floor in our room. He has not had any accidents in the house and has free roam of the house.

Sam's forever home should be one with a lot of activity that includes him. He has a lot of energy and needs to burn it up on walks, runs, etc. A second dog is fine, as long as it likes to play AND can tell Sam when it has had enough play time. Kids would be good, but he may knock little kids over as he can get to running so fast he just can not stop himself. Let us know if you would like to meet this fine lad and enjoy the pictures.

It’s  hard to believe it has been 5 years since Sam joined us.  Like most RAGOM dogs he has grown up to be the BEST DOG EVER!  Sam had some bad luck early on and need to have both knees worked on.  He has made a fun recovery and, all these years later, he is a very active guy.  He has many friends (both canine and human) and is fortunate to live near the Minnehaha Dog Park.  Thanks to RAGOM and Pete and Kim for helping him get to our home.     -Scott and Jenny
