Sophee 06-488

Profile

11/20/06: Sophee was the third of the Boo Bears to be born. Sophee’s parents were from a puppy mill and so she is a purebred Golden Retriever. Sophee came into this world at 11:22 pm on October 24th, 2006 and will be ready for adoption on December 18th, 2006. Sophee will be four weeks on 11/22/06.

Sophee came into this world weighing in at 1.4 pounds, which was the biggest of all the pups. At two weeks of age she weighed 2.88 pounds, and I believe she will weigh close to 4 pounds when we go to the vet later this week. Sophee has had her deworming and will do another dose this week. In two weeks she will get her first set of puppy shots!

Sophee is by far the most vocal of the group and feels that everyone should be awake when she is up and moving. She was also the one that would push everyone off a nipple so she could continue to eat when she was done with one nipple. She was and is quite the piggy!

We lost our dear Sophee Bear 06-488 last night to Lymposarcoma - stage 3. She was recently diagnoised in February and it was spreading fast.

You can see Sophee Bear with her best friend and fellow Ragom pup Stevee Rae. Sophee (head laying on Stevee Rae) and Stevee were always together because Sophee was Stevee's set of eyes.

Sophee never proved us wrong this past 6 1/2 years, she was a spit fire when she was born at our house and continued to the end. Sophee has helped foster so many animals at our home, we are just lost without her. The thing we are going to miss about Sophee the most is her crying when the kids came home to visit. I have never seen a dog cry so much when they walked in the door. This past week when my son came home from college to say his goodbyes, she could not get up to greet him, but she just laid there and cried. He immediately came to her and they laid on the floor crying together, knowing this was the last time he was going to hear that.

My daughter Cindee and I were the ones who adopted Sophee together knowing Sophee would eventually go and live with her. This past December we were able to tell Sophee that she was going to get to live with Cindee in a big house this May. She won't get to experience that, but she did get to experience the farm life, which she loved.

With that, my loving Sophee, thank you for protecting us and loving us, you my sweet sweet dog were a god send!

From Sophee's forever family...

Sophee wanted to let you know she is doing well and thinks of her RAGOM family each and every day. Sophee is still as fun and loving as always. She continues to help with new fosters and help teach her RAGOM Sister Stevee Rae (08-362) all the finer things in life. Okay like any big sister, she teases Stevee a lot but also knows when Stevee is having a tough day. She is always the first to find Stevee when she is in a frantic moment.

We are so thankful RAGOM allowed Cindee and I to adopt Sophee, she is such a special dog....

From Sophee's forever family...

I cannot believe Sophee is now 2 ½ years old. She has been the best dog around. She finished Dog 1 – 3 and I hope to start bringing her to the hospital with me this year!

She has been so great with all our fosters, we have had over 100 now and she is such a trooper showing them the way of the good life. She has dealt with the loss of her best friend Coal the Newf this past year, but Stevee Rae took her place and now Sophee is her seeing eye partner.

If Stevee Rae goes somewhere, Sophee will usually go with, unless we go to a foster Petco event. Then Stevee Rae and Sophee take turns. Sophee of course gets a little bent out shape when she has to stay home since she is the oldest of the two RAGOM dogs that were adopted.

Sophee still belongs to our daughter, but is currently living with MA and PA until Cindee can purchase her house. She hopes that will be this year. However she does know that Mistee and Stevee both have visiting rights.

I believe Sophee has found her home at our home. This is such a hard decision because I do not want to miss any of the pups that need to be fostered. But the family made it clear we had to keep her since she is such a spirited young lady. Here are a couple of pictures of Sophee and Mistee Bubbles hanging on the couch.

Sophee is growing by leaps and bounds. Yesterday she went to the vet and we found out she had a major case of roundworms – I hate roundworms, they are these nasty long worms that are really gross and hard on the pups’ insides. So the good news is everyone, including Mom and Newfoundlands, are being treated and everyone should be on the path of better weight gain.

Sophee weighed in at 4.81 pounds – she is the 6th largest pup now. I think she looks to be the biggest. Sophee continues to whine over the little things. She is very much a drama queen and lets everyone know if something is wrong. These pictures are of Sophee just after her bath. She hates baths and cried and carried on the whole time. Imagine that!
