Monday, Annie had surgery to remove the blocked saliva duct, called sialocele. She came out of like a trooper. She is on pain, anti-inflammatory, and antibiotic meds for a couple of weeks. She wears a neck bandage to protect the area and help her skin to not sag anymore - a little cosmetic work for Ms Annie. Thanks to Dr R and the vet staff who performed the surgery! Even working with our vets who give special discounts for rescue, her medical care is far greater than the adoption fee. She is such a super sweet girl. She thinks she needs special treatment after her spa/surgery day, so sleeping in our bed seems to cure all of her pain and whining at night. Annie eats very well, all her food and will cruise the other bowls looking for leftovers. She sits for treats and takes them gently. We have tried various fruits and veggies with only bananas and watermelon fitting her palette.
We believe she loves her humans and would be fine living without another dog. Since she was a stray and only partially knows her name, we recommend her adoptive family have a fence. She is probably fine on a tie-out or walking for potty breaks. We continue to work on not jumping up on us, counters, and some furniture. This last week, she has become more fond of various chew toys and playing by herself.
Annie will be at the Shakopee meet-and-greet on Saturday.
