Lucky arrived this weekend and he is one beautiful boy! He is 2.5 years old and looks like a black Golden Retriever with a white chest and white front paws, and at 60 lbs is a great size. Lucky was surrendered by a family that could no longer care for him. We went to the vet today and he has fleas, a minor ear infection and needs a good teeth cleaning. Other than that Lucky is now current on his vaccinations, neutered and in great health.

We are just getting to know him but so far Lucky seems to be potty trained, learning how to walk stairs and on a leash. He is good with or resident Mia and 10-204 Serena, and very calm and gentle with young kids. I’ll write more after we have a chance to get to know our handsome new boy!

Updates

Hi Everyone!

It's Lucky boy here to tell you how everything is going since my last update!I LOVE my furever home! Mom and Dad can't get enough of me! They are always giving me "loves" as Mom calls it, and boy do I love the loves!

Mom always snuggles me any chance she can get and tells me how much she loves me! Dad does too.  They call me their Lucky boy, silly boy, cutie patootie, handsome Lucky boy and a bunch of other cute names.  I love it! Mom says that she doesn't like to leave for work in the morning because she wants to stay and snuggle with me all day. I would love that too! Maybe someday.

The great news on the health front is that my ear infection is gone! That's right! It's gone! Yay! Mom still cleans my ears once or twice each week, just for good measure.

My fur butt sister Zoe is really sweet and I'm pretty protective of her.  She's my little sister, after all.  We play quite a bit and Mom and Dad laugh when I chase her around the house and the yard.  I let her get away sometimes, but I do like to wrestle with her too. She loves it!

Mom and Dad call me their protector, but I'm just making sure no one messes with my house, my yard and my family!  I let people, cars and other animals know that this is MY home and I think Mom and Dad appreciate my protective nature.

A while ago Mom and Dad adopted a fur butt brother from RAGOM named Noah 12-202.  He really likes to cuddle, and I'm getting to like cuddling with him, too. He's actually older than me, but I'm protective of him anyway.

So the GReat thing about my yard is that there are PLENTY of things to chase.  Zoe, Noah and I caught a couple of gophers!  What do you know......they taste like chicken!  Mom laughed and called me a silly boy for swallowing the gopher whole.  I just wanted to try gopher and I was a little hungry, so there you go.

Well, all is wonderful with me!  I am getting all of the loves I want and when I go up to Mom and Dad for more they are happy to give even more! I love my life with my furever family! Thank you RAGOM and my foster mom Mary for finding just the right fit for me!

Love,

Lucky Boy

Lucky has been doing much better with strangers! Several people have been to our home that he has not met before and he is doing so well. Lucky walks to them for TLC after a few minutes if they wait for him to approach. Patience is a great virtue for Lucky! He was extra silly today. Lucky’s foster brother 11-114 Bo was adopted and he must have known something was up because he was running around the yard in circles at top speed, then would stop, play bow and do it all over again.

It will be interesting to see how he does without Bo, as he has become very attached to him – more so than any of the other dogs. While Lucky is doing really well at home, he does not do well at crowds, so I won’t be taking him to Goldzilla or other RAGOM events. L Unfortunate…but I think it is so much better for Lucky if he learns to interact with people in smaller, safer and less confusing settings.

Check out our silly boy while he was running this afternoon!

Lucky has been super brave this week!  I had several strangers (strange to Lucky) over this week and he walked up to them after a few minutes and pawed, play bowed and let them pet him.  The secret seems to be ignoring him and letting him approach on his own timeline.  I’m so proud of him and it touches my heart to see him enjoy other people and receive the TLC he so deserves.

Lucky loves to hang out at the top of the stairs where he can see everything that’s going on, and look out the window.  He took a little nap today and looked so handsome….I wish I could get a better picture!

Lucky continues to be a very happy, playful boy when he is home or out walking with people he knows.  In fact he is getting even more silly and playful both with his human and canine housemates.  Lucky remains nervous around new people, and while he has never done anything around young, unpredictable kids, I have been separating him from the neighbor kids when they come over to play.  He is happy to chill in another area until they leave.  Did I tell you he smiles?

Lucky’s a playful, happy boy when we are home and loves the kids and dogs. He is braver now when we are out walking but still a little tentative. When someone comes to our house that Lucky doesn’t know, he is nervous and barks for a bit. After a while, Lucky relaxes and starts to act like himself. We’ll keep working with him and expose Lucky to new people so he can learn that people will be good to him and are trustworthy.

Lucky has an ear infection and has been on meds for the past week. He let me clean his ears today and was in heaven so must be on the mend! Lucky has the cutest mannerisms and uses his front paws like they are hands – holds onto my hand, bats at me if he wants my attention, play bows and taps his front paws – very, very cute! Lucky returned to RAGOM this week and settled in right away…as if he never left!  He loves Mia and 11-114 Bo, playing with my kids and playing tug!  Lucky was groomed this week and is a beautiful dog!  Lucky was loved by his adoptive family and returned him to RAGOM because he started air nipping at strangers when they came to the house.  Lucky is a bit nervous anytime a stranger is in our home (barks at them, walks away, etc.), but is never aggressive. I think Lucky does really well around other dogs.  He seems to feel more confident, and follows their lead.  When Mia or Bo are comfortable with a person, Lucky is too, etc. I would recommend having him go to a home with a confident dog and fenced yard.

He is a wonderful boy and easy foster.  Lucky is very affectionate, playful, potty trained, extremely well behaved, great walker, and just a sweet boy! If you are interested in learning more about Lucky, please contact your placement advisor.

Lucky has been exposed to more people and is building his confidence. The men that have access to him are very kind to him so that he will learn people will be good to him. When Lucky is home alone with us, he is a silly playful boy. He started chasing the ball this week, playing tug with resident Mia and chasing both Mia and 10-204 Serena around the yard. Lucky’s fleas are gone and ear infection healed, and his tail wags all the time. Check him out – he is a stunning boy!
