Millie (Sasha 07-518)

Profile

9/12/07: Hi, my name is Sasha and my foster mom says I'm a real sweetheart.  I came to Minnesota over a week ago from a puppy mill in Arkansas.  I'm 5 1/2 years old and just now finding out that 'Life is Good'.  I go potty outside, I haven't had an accident in almost a week, I like going on walks on a leash, I know my name (now that I have a name and I'm not just a number!), I love going to the dog park and meeting new people and dogs and I love love love being petted, brushed and pampered.  I stay in a crate druing the day while my foster mom is at work, I don't think she trusts me to make all the right choices if I'm free to roam yet.  but I don't have to be crated at night - she just puts up a baby gate at the bedroom door so I stay close by.

I haven't figured yet out what a ball is for, but I'm pretty smart so I'm sure that I'll figure it out pretty soon.  I just need someone to show me.  I love kids, I ignore cats, I'm good with other dogs (no resource guarding of food or toys - of course I'm not sure what toys are, but I'm learning), and I like to ride in the car (I'm not sure about jumping into the car, but once I'm in I love to sit and look out the back window with the wind in my hair).  I'm looking for a forever home that would show me all the wonderful things that I've missed while I was living in a puppy mill and would give me enough love and attention to make up for my lack of attention the first 5 1/2 years of my life.

This is foster mom writing.  Sasha is really becoming a very happy, loving and well adjusted Golden.  She is very social; she walks right up to strangers to be petted.  I've taken her for walks on a leash and she does very well, she pulls a little every so often, but not bad.  I took her to the dog park yesterday for the first time and she really seemed to enjoy it.  I think that she would make a wonderful addition to almost any home.  She is really social for a puppy mill dog, in fact the people that she met yesterday at the park were surprised that she was a puppy mill dog and especially that she had only been out for a little over a week.  She is very gentle with my 1 year old grandson and lets him give her lots of kisses and hugs.  I can't say enough good things about Sasha, she is just one super girl.

I wanted to let RAGOM know our sweet, sweet Millie (Sasha 07-518) died today.

Our family was so lucky to have her with us for 10 years.  She was such a joy-always kind and gentle and patient when our children were little and later as they grew into teenagers, she continued to love them with kisses and tail wags when they came home from school.

Millie started her journey to us with many fears having been treated as nothing but a puppy mill mom and died knowing how truly loved and missed she will be.

Sasha has arrived in her new foster home.  Thanks, Sue, for providing such a great start to this lovely lady! Sasha had a very busy day today meeting our two male resident dogs.  Here is the final tally:  Teddy (7-year old male Corgi) A
                Dewey (4-year-old "what in the world" dog") c
                Sasha - A++++++++++
She was terrific walking...absolutely loved going to the park...three times today! She does not pull at all on the lead but gets excited at squirrel sightings. Duh. She greeted my husband with a wagging tail when he walked through the door.  Pretty good manners, I'd say.  She loves to have her tummy rubbed.  I swear she was actually purring! She is somewhat shy but not timid. She is adjusting quite well to another new situation. This gal is a love and will make some family smile ear-to-ear every day!  Happy to write more as we get to know each other...
