Please welcome Auggie to RAGOM! When he first arrive here in Iowa, he was all about bellying up to the bar for free drinks! Now he is nose-diving into (walking through, laying in, playing in) the pile of puppy mush that gets delivered a few times a day. All the pups love the kibble and are relying less and less on the milk machine for their needs. Momma (Scooby 13-241) is all about that now that she has puppies with teeth trying to nurse! You can watch a video of the puppies here

Auggie will be in foster care for another four weeks or so while the puppies are weaned and get altered. Is he the boy for you?

Auggie is approaching his 8-month birthday. We just visited the vet for his heartworm, wellness, and fecal check. He weighs 56 lbs and his exam was spotless. Auggie walks on a flat collar, soon to be switched to a martingale and we just tried a front hook harness this past weekend. He does well on both. Auggie chases, retrieves, sits for his treat and is ready to go again to get is ball. He is practicing his "down" and "off" commands, but knows his "lay down" command well. He has been free-roaming for up to 4 hours, but kenneled for longer periods. He kennels up very nicely and sleeps in a big dog kennel at night. He barks to go outside and if he could, he would spend all day playing outside. Gets along with three Goldens females, ages 14, 13, and 4, plus a Mini Goldendoodle male (only male in house except Auggie) who is 2. He likes to talk if you carry on a conversation with him and he has a happy personality.

Auggie had some time for a playdate with another RAGOM foster by the name of Raphael this past Saturday. They are close to the same age and Raphael has much longer legs, but they certainly have the same spirited play. I think my crew enjoyed a little respite from Auggie's love of activity.

Auggie's retrieval is near perfect. He chases down the ball, quickly returns, drops it, and then sits for his treat. Sometimes he is so excited for his treat he leaves the ball behind. All you have to do is say, "no, you have to go get the ball and point," and he bounces back out to get it, bring it back, and sits nicely for his treat.

We continue to work on social manners. "Off" and "down" for a 7-month-old puppy is sure a challenge. If I point and say, "Down," he puts his paw on my hand thinking it is a game. I also see counter surfer written in his future, so "off" is becoming a frequently used term. He responds to this one much better than then the "down" command.

Auggie is a fun, spirited, happy, and active puppy that will need a family committed to continuing obedience training and socializing skills as he matures. He will indeed make you smile and laugh every day. It is nice that we are emerging from winter, as Auggie enjoys outside activities, and the advantage is he can hop into the shower with you and be done as fast as you are. Come meet this special little guy and his personality will blow you way.

Well, Auggie is now 6 months old and weighs almost 50 lbs. He is very active and loves to be outside in the snow no matter how cold it is. He continues to eat 2 cups of dry Taste of The Wild in the morning and evening. Because of his high puppy activity, I will continue to feed him 4 cups a day. He has a gentle mouth when taking treats and loves rawhide chews.

Auggie is learning the "no jump" rule as well as the "stop licking me" rule. This is all in the day of a typical puppy who has lots of spontaneity and poor impulse control. He is a lover and cuddle time in the evening on the sofa is where you will frequently find him.

Auggie has had a trial of free roam for 1 1/2 hours while we were out to supper. Everything was in its usual place and he was on the pet bed with the pack. He can still be caught chewing things he should not, so supervision and puppy proofing your house is a must.

I am sending a picture of my sledgehammer which Auggie took out from the inside porch to the far corner of the yard. These are not feather light hammers and I don't know what he planned to do, but obviously, he has no problem getting it out there.

Enjoy the pictures of this great little guy. Please consider this little fella as he is a fun and happy guy who would love to find a family of his own.

Auggie had a great time at the meet-and-greet last Saturday in Coralville, Iowa. He managed to charm everyone and received lots of pets from the very young to the many adults in the store. He had almost impeccable manners, except for a pee accident. If it had not been for the barking dogs close by the door, I would have known he wanted to go outside. So I can say that Auggie now barks when he wants to go out to potty. Auggie will be more reliable with his potty habits as he approached his 6-month birthday.

Currently, Auggie is proficient at sitting, taking treats nicely, retrieving, and coming when called as well as leash walking. We are working on commands for down, release or drop, and off which for puppies are a lot of do-overs. He is very smart and a quick study at learning his cues.

As you can see, Auggie loves to chew and he found the rubber bottom on this feeding dish a great chew item. He also loves to pick them up and carry them around. Auggie is growing his adult teeth, so when he is laying down and throws his head back, you can see his big bunny teeth coming in. He has yet to learn how to jump on the sofa, so he comes to me to be picked up. When I put my arms under his front legs around his chest, he stretches up on his back tippy toes and stretches his chin to the ceiling like he thinks that will make his 20-lb weight much lighter.

Auggie would make any family a great addition. His family must be committed to giving him plenty of exercise as well as games to stretch his mind. Although his foster home has a privacy fence, it is not absolute in his adoptive home, which means he goes out on a leash or is attached to a tie-out for short periods for potty breaks. Auggie can live in a house with or without dogs, though he sure enjoys all his playmates here. Auggie is not exposed to many very young children where I live, so his puppy play can be too rough for small children. Again, young children should be supervised when they are around dogs for everyone's safety.

Auggie is doing fine without his siblings. His personality is becoming more calm and his potty training is improving as he approaches his 4-month birthday. I can say that his sitting to command has become automatic 100% of the time when he is at my side, coming in from outside for treats, or really most anytime I am with him. He rarely jumps, so he needs little reinforcement when it comes to the off command. Auggie also takes treats very gently and he is very patient even when my dogs are beside him for treats. We have been outside leash-walking with just his flat collar and he is doing very well considering his age. Yes, he has lots of curiosity and tends to wander all over the walk and sniff the grass, but with the walk command, he moves very well.

Auggie is still too young for free roam without adult supervision. He sleeps in the kennel at night and whines when he needs to be let out. He is consuming a total of 4 cups of dry kibble per day and he is becoming less of the fat puppy belly to the appearance of a lean growing pup. Auggie has only one more set of shots to complete (distemper and rabies) the first week of December and he will be good till next year for his annual vaccinations and preventatives.

Auggie is looking for his forever family. He is a loving, fun, and happy little fellow who is a quick student when it comes to teaching him what he needs to know to be a good member of your family. He would be a great addition to any family, so let us know if you want to meet this guy. He will be at the PETCO this coming Saturday from 11-1 p.m. in Coralville, Iowa. Hope to see you there.

Auggie is now 12 weeks old and weighs in at 19.1 lbs. He has received his 12-week shots and got a clean bill of health on his checkup. His neuter incision is healed and he is a happy, very active, and affectionate little fellow. He is the leanest of the three boys I am fostering and now consumes 2 cups of puppy kibble in the morning and early evening.

Auggie, as well as his brothers, now sit to command (and expect a treat), run up and down a short flight of stairs, kennel up to command 80% when asked, and now wake up (darn that time change) anywhere from 4 am to 6 am. Auggie also is 100% consistent at the come command and does so at full speed and is happy to give affection when he comes barreling in from outside. Auggie is the least likely to kennel up because he is having to much fun. Leash walking is a learning process and more often than not, they act like 4H bottle calf babies by planting their front feet and butt down in a very stubborn stance. Next we will walk with a seasoned adult to give them some motivation and follow the leader.

Auggie is a delight and would love to have a forever home to call his own. Let you placement advisor know if you want to meet this cutie.

Auggie has completed his neuter this past week and is doing very well. He was the smallest of the four, weighing in at 14 lbs. Auggie is very attuned to his humans and the one most likely to lay peacefully on the sofa with you. He comes when called especially when he knows there is a treat involved. Auggie has also mastered the sit command, again when he is offered a treat, and has a gentle mouth as puppies this age are nipping at everything that comes close to their mouths. Potty training is going well, but as all puppies this age, lapses can occur so frequent outside trips are necessary. Auggie is also the most vocal talker of the group, but when they are playing, they all seem to have an opinion between themselves and whatever game they are playing. I have enclosed some new pics of Auggie. One night we were watching Animal Planet with the puppies and all of them took notice, especially when the puppies were whining.

Auggie is looking for his forever family. So give us a bark if you are interested in this little cutie.

Auggie is the second pup of four in my home who loves contact with his human and like his brothers he is now 8 weeks old. He enjoys quiet time for just soft hugs, kisses, and pets while he observes his brothers around him. Like all the pups they are also teething and often want to nip at the hands that give good things so if they get too rough and persist I just put them down till later.

Auggie is also one of the larger of the four pups I am fostering. Eating time is a frenzy when they all try and get into the same bowl going round and round the bowl so I now put two bowls down but it sure does not slow the process. They do share well and there have been no issues around the food bowl.

Like his brothers Auggie sleeps from 10:30 pm to 6:30 am and like his brothers is eager to get the day started with a potty break and then breakfast. After breakfast they potty again and then settle down with full tummy's for a nap. Potty training is a work in progress and they are definitely doing pretty well at this point. All the pups in my house have a corral pen and except for brief periods out that is where they eat, sleep, play, and still potty especially overnight. Daytime is very much less as they go outside every 2-3 hours especially after nap time.

They are learning to come when called and do this consistently when they hear the food bag or tinkle of food going in the pan. This is when they get a few kibble for coming when called to reinforce this behavior.

Auggie will be neutered with his brothers on Oct. 15th and when recovered will be ready for adoption.

All Miss Scooby's puppies are growing like weeds! They are eating hard food and lapping water from a dish -- and are pooping and peeing machines! They will go for their first shots at the end of this week and then will be leaving their super-awesome momma. Though they won't be with Scooby, they will still be with at least one other littermate for the next few weeks to continue to socialize and learn the rules of dog-dog interaction.

Auggie (green ribbon in the pic with three pups) is an adorable kiddo! Resident dog Clyde can't get enough of him and the other puppies! If you think Auggie might be a fit for your home please contact your placement advisor!
