Roxie is a Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix She is two years old and being fostered in Inver Grove Heights, MN.

Roxie is a tall, long and lean girl, weighing in at 72 pounds. She is very loving and a gentle girl.

A few things you may want to know about Roxie.

  • She does not do well with cats or any other small animals like squirrels, rabbits, and fox.
  • She loves other dogs and would like a playmate, but that is not required.
  • She is house trained and I am working on kennel training her. She will protest at first, but does settle down.
  • Roxie does well on a tie-out or a fence that is 6 feet high. My fence is 4 feet high and she can jump right over that and she does. I keep her on a tie-out in my fenced yard when I am not right by her. If I am out, she listens well and stays in the fenced yard.
  • Roxie is not good on a leash, She will pull hard. We have a Gentle Leader and will be working with her to get her to walk nicely and not pull. I will update her progress as the week goes on.
  • Roxie is healthy except for an ear infection. She is up-to-date on her shots. She will need to be spayed; I will get that done in the next few weeks.

Roxie will be attending our Goldzilla event this weekend, Sunday, September 14th. She will be there most of the day and will be in the foster showcase tent from 11:30-12:30. Come out and meet her and all the other great dogs that we have!

Roxie was adopted today by a wonderful family that she met at Goldzilla!

The B family fell in love with her at first sight. While at Goldzilla, Roxie and I were at the foster showcase meeting people. Roxie's new mom said that Roxie locked her eyes on them from across the field. She seamed to say, "Come and see me!" As they walked closer, Roxie never took her eyes off them. As Mrs. B kneeled down to say hi to Roxie, Roxie gave her a soft little kiss on her face. Love at first sight! For Roxie and her new family.

So happy we got to be in her life, even if it was only for a short time. Have a great life, Roxie! You are loved and missed here by everyone. Congratulations, B family, on adopting such an amazing dog!

Roxie is doing great in her foster home. She has learned lots of new things and gets along really well with her foster sisters.

Roxie has had a busy week. On Sunday, September 14, 2014, we attended Goldzilla. It was a lot of fun and she got to meet lots of dogs and people and did great meeting everyone. Roxie did the walk for rescue and also walked in the foster showcase parade. She is walking much better with the use of a Gentle Leader.

Now that Roxie is more comfortable in our home, she seams less interested in jumping over the fence. I do keep her on a tie-out when I am not in the yard with her. She does great on the tie-out. We spent this past weekend at the lake and Roxie was on a tie-out when outside. She did great with that.

She liked the lake and was interested in the water. We did not let her go in; she had her spay surgery on Tuesday and we need to keep her incision dry for 10 days. Maybe next time we will let her go in if it's not to cold.

Roxie likes living in the house and loves to climb up on the couch and nap next to the humans. She is a quiet dog, not much barking at all. She loves to be petted and is getting playful with the resident dogs.

Roxie is ready to go to her forever home. If you would like to meet Roxie, please contact your placement advisor.
