Katie is a four month old cream colored Golden Retriever. She and her littermates came into RAGOM from a commercial breeder. She is fostered in Sioux Falls SD with her sister, Josie. Katie was very sick when she first arrived at her foster home. She had a respiratory illness and was very lethargic. Her breathing was labored and rattled. She was so ill that I took her in to be checked for parvovirus. Fortunately, that was negative. It took Katie many weeks to recover from her illness. She was smaller by four pounds than her sister, Josie, and continued to struggle with a cough. Many nights we sat in a steamy bathroom to ease her breathing. Her recovery included weeks of antibiotics for giardia and coccidia as well. She really was one sick puppy.

Fortunately, she recovered and has doubled in size and weight. As she got better, she was able to out run and out wrestle her big sister, Josie. Her athleticism was exciting to see after the lethargy she had at first. Soon she was on top in the wrestling matches.

Katie is very sweet and affectionate. She is so soft and snuggly, too. They passed her around at the groomer's, taking turns holding her and admiring her soft coat. She has beautiful eyes and is just a darling pup.

Katie loves to retrieve and is very proud of herself when she brings something to you. She discovered water yesterday and put her whole face in the water dish several times.

Katie has found her forever home in Minneapolis. She becomes part of a family who lost a young Golden to cancer and are very eager to have another dog. Her new name is Sammie and she will be loved a great deal.
